Shannon’s Homemade Turkey Cheeseburgers
1 lb of ground turkey
parsley, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder
2 cups of Italian bread crumbs
2 tablespoons of parmesan cheese
about 1 cup of oil to fry burgers onions (optional)
about 3 tablespoons of oil to fry onions
kaiser rolls (plain or seeded)
Ketchup, lettuce,tomatoes and pickles (optional)
add the turkey, seasonings egg and breadcrumbs in a bowl and ground together
make patties out of the ground mixture (makes about 6-8 )
chop onions and add to a small skillet with 3 tablespoons of oil cook until browned – when finished drain and place in a small bowl set aside (can complete this process while waiting for the burgers to cook)
heat the cup of oil in a separate skillet (larger) for about 5 minutes- add the patties on medium heat -cover with a lid so the inside cooks – keep checking- after about 10-15 minutes turn to the other side and repeat process Once the burger is cooked add american cheese slice on top put lid back on to melt for about 1 minute- remove from heat.
Place finished turkey cheeseburger on kaiser roll, top with fried onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and ketchup!!!
